Yes, it is a major victory but in so many cases, like yours, it is a validation
of practices already common because of pedagogic need. It would be nice if we
could get a formal exemption for f.l. instructors and centers with respect to
regional encoding, wouldn't it? Currently it is illegal to own or use a player
that plays more than one region, and this type of encoding is not specified in
the new ruling, just the anti-copying encryption. I believe that the law is up
for review by Congress in the next few years, though.
