Imagine this: a relaxing summer weekend in Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains,
shared with your fellow Dartmouth friends!

There will be myriad opportunities for fun for all ages and interests: You
can go tubing or canoeing, do a zip line or go for a hike, play golf or
tennis, laze at the pool, even work out in the fitness center! Or just take
it easy--enjoy a spa appointment, test your palate at local wineries, listen
to a Wintergreen Summer Music Festival concert, or just relax in the shade
with a favorite book. There's even a special "Treehouse Program" with
special activities for kids. Many activities are included with the lodging.

To cap off the weekend, we’ll have a Sunday Brunch and Book Talk with
historian and journalist James Zug ’91, award-winning author of five books.
Zug’s senior thesis at Dartmouth was published 17 years later as The
Guardian: A History of South Africa's Anti-Apartheid Newspaper. His newest
book is about a Trinity College squash coach who has produced the longest
winning streak in college sports history (224 consecutive wins) while
struggling with a son who is a heroin addict. After doing Trip to the Sea in
1991, James became interested in John Ledyard; in 2005, his biography of
Ledyard, American Traveler, came out to wide and positive reviews, even from
a certain conservative College newspaper. Ledyard fled Dartmouth College by
canoe after his freshman year and pursued many adventures, including a stint
in the British Royal Navy ship Resolution on Captain James Cook's final
voyage.
