This is a reminder notice for a bird walk in Norwich on Saturday June 12. Meet at 7:00 AM at the junction of Tigertown and Sue Spaulding Roads (see road instructions below) for the sixth in the Norwich 2010 Birding Quest walks. This walk, led by Norwich resident George Clark, is to be at a leisurely pace for a total of about two miles along unpaved town roads while looking for summer resident birds in woodlands and ponds. Hills in this area are not steep. Bring binoculars if available. Insect repellant may be useful. Children are welcome with an accompanying adult. This walk is free and open to both Norwich residents and others. The trip is to be held in any weather except thundershowers, but be aware that rain or wind can reduce the chances of seeing many birds. We plan to return to the starting point by 9:30 AM. The goal of the Norwich 2010 Birding Quest <http://www.vtecostudies.org/quest/> is to find and identify as many species of birds as possible from Norwich during calendar year 2010. Enjoy the challenge of the June 12 walk to find evidence for the nesting of a variety of species. See the latest blog on the Norwich 2010 Birding Quest at http://vtecostudies.blogspot.com/2010/05/norwich-2010-quest-closes-in-on-150.html Road Instructions: Please carpool if possible. Entering the village on Main Street, take the second left by the Norwich Inn onto Beaver Meadow Road and continue on Beaver Meadow Road for about 5 miles. Turn left (south) onto Chapel Hill Road. Continue bearing to the left at each of two consecutive intersections, and you will then be on Tigertown Road. Continue south for slightly over a mile to the the meeting point at the junction of Tigertown and Sue Spaulding Road, marked by the presence of a conspicuous pond on the right side of Tigertown Road. **************************************************************** To post messages, send e-mail to: [log in to unmask] Set your e-mail application to PLAIN TEXT ONLY to post messages.
