Postgraduate Researcher in Head Impact Biomechanics Employer: Simbex Position Description: Simbex is currently seeking a post-graduate/post-doctoral researcher to assist in our ongoing studies (NIH and NOCSAE) of mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI). Our company and collaborative research partners are uniquely positioned to understand mTBI using a multi-disciplinary approach encompassing real-time on-field measures of head acceleration (HIT System), neural imaging (e.g., fMRI, DTI), neurocognitive testing, and on-field symptomotology. The long-term goal of our research is to understand the pathomechanics and clinical sequelae of mTBI, enabling translational research and development of new clinical and therapeutic techniques to reduce the incidence and negative effects of mTBI. Our research to date has collected over 1 million on over 1000 individuals across football, hockey, boxing, skiing, soccer, and equestrian. Responsibilities: Applicant is expected to assist in large scale data analysis, to assist in preparation of manuscripts, and to present results at research and medical conferences. This is a 12-24 month position with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2010. Requirements: We are seeking a talented post-graduate researcher with a strong experimental research background in bioinformatics and impact biomechanics. Experience in multivariate statistical techniques, data visualization techniques, relational databases, C/C++ programming, and Matlab are desired, but not required. Candidates should also have strong communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently as well as on a team. Candidates will have a strong record of scientific excellence, independent research and collaboration.
