We are currently trialling that service in New Zealand. The beauty of it is that it is also mutlicast and streams on any PCs around our campuses with no specific hardware necessary.. Quality of reception is generally good even blown full screen on a 17" monitor. By the by, if anybody has IPTV on this list, we are looking for solutions to schedule our recordings (under screenrights agreement of course) but haven't found any yet - . IPTV recorder is not reliable and there is no EPG (Electronic Programming Guide) at the back-end so we cannot use a PVR (Personal Video Recorder like AmiNet). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :-) **************************** Edith Paillat Language Technology Specialist Victoria University of Wellington New Zealand +64 4 463 5792 http://www.victoria.ac.nz/llc/about/projects.aspx -----Original Message----- From: Language Learning and Technology International Information Forum [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of LLTI-Editor Sent: Tuesday, August 18, 2009 11:32 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: #9212 Help needed with Asus/ViXS Combo-210E NTSC/ATSC TV Tuner --- Forwarded Message from "Cobb-Zygadlo, Deanne" <[log in to unmask]> --- >From: "Cobb-Zygadlo, Deanne" <[log in to unmask]> >To: <[log in to unmask]> >Subject: Help needed with Asus/ViXS Combo-210E NTSC/ATSC TV Tuner >Date: Mon, 17 Aug 2009 08:46:18 -0400 Hi, The LRC at KU is currently running a Gateway PC lab with Asus/ViXS Combo-210E NTSC/ATSC TV Tuner cards so that students may watch live international satellite tv at the computers. These computers originally were running Windows Vista, but for some reason the computers kept having video and memory card issues. IT's attempt at a solution was to revert the computers back to XP but we have not yet found a driver for the TV Tuner cards which means that our expensive satellite tv connections are fruitless at the moment. It did find a 3rd party driver, but although the system now recognizes the tuner card, our TV tuner software is still not working. We have a funding request in to change our TV tuner cards, but given the current economic conditions, we suspect that this funding will not be approved. I am wondering if anyone has had any similar issues and whether they have found any worthwhile workarounds that we might try.
