All,

This is my first message to UV-Birders, and an invitation to learn
about - and perhaps support - a proposed public park and bird
watching site at Foley Point in Norwich.
Foley Point is a historic landing and settlement on the south
facing bluff overlooking the Connecticut River just past the Ledyard
Bridge. The land is owned by the town of Norwich. Several citizens,
with cooperation and support from a number of organizations,
including the Montshire Museum, Appalachian Trail Conference, and CT
River Watershed Council, will propose to the Norwich selectboard
tomorrow night that this land be dedicated as a multiple use public
park and gazebo, called "River Park". The point sits under the CT
River Flyway, and it overlooks the bay created by Blood Brook
entering the Ct River. Lots of waterfowl and songbirds! The
Montshire Museum is considering a walkway to the site.

If you would like to learn more, and especially if you have ideas for
making this public land a bird watching site, please contact me or
Norman Miller: [log in to unmask] Or,
come to the Norwich Selectboard meeting tomorrow night from 6:30 PM
to see this presentation.
