The International Association for Language Learning Technology (IALLT) is now seeking one or two proposals for sessions (either individuals or panelists) for this conference, following up on last year's very successful panels. Topics especially requested are 1) How and What Kinds of Technology Can Be Used Successfully to Promote Language Exchanges, and 2) How Can Technology Help Create Communities (this could be in the sense of the U.S. National Standards notion of communities) and Real World Understanding in These Communities. Both topics fit within the overall conference topic for 2009, "Engaging Communities: The World is Our Classroom". Please send proposals to Mike Ledgerwood at [log in to unmask] in the next two weeks. The Northeast Conference is the U.S's oldest and second largest conference of foreign language teaching professionals. The Conference considers itself "The Cutting Edge Conference" and its over 2000 attendees have a huge variety of sessions and activities to chose from. New York City's Broadway and Times Square are just steps away from the Conference and some Conference activities take good advantage of this vibrant atmosphere. For further information on the Conference please visit its web site at http://www.nectfl.org. Unfortunately, neither NECTFL nor IALLT can assist with presenter expenses. However, the Conference does have a roommate service and provides tips on lowering expenses for the Conference at its web site. Presenters from the greater NYC metro area may have lower expenses, too. Best to all and hoping for some proposals very soon! Mikle D.
