What placement test do you use? For Spanish, French, & German, we use the BYU/HTRSC WebCAPE. For ASL, it's a homestyle recipe. For critical languages, STAMP. For Spanish heritage learners, it's a WebCAPE/homestyle combo (online part & written part). 2. Is credit awarded for classes that they place out of? If so, how does that work in your institution? Never. Using the placement test score, students are placed into a level. They must complete this with a C or better, then apply for credit for the levels they didn't have to take as a result of the test. 3. Are students required to take the exam in-person even though the exam is online? If not, how have you addressed the potential for academic dishonesty? All exams are taken in person in our assessment center on campus. Students must first fill out a referral request before being sent to take the test (example: http://cyfair.lonestar.edu/frenchplacement). As our enrollment balloons out of control, we are also toying with the idea of doing mass-testing in person at set times and dates during the year.
