Shortly before noon I went outside to find out why the blue jays were so
noisy.  It seems a red-tailed hawk had landed on my roof.  It sat there for
15 minutes pretty much ignoring the jays that made repeated passes at it.
Finally it flew to a nearby tree.  Photos of the event are at

Some of my favorite birds during June included Blackpoll, Canada,
Black-throated Blue and Green, and Northern Waterthrush Warblers;
Sharp-shinned and Broad-winged Hawks;  Cedar Waxwings, and Eastern
