The Coordinator works with students, faculty, and other internal and external constituencies to support the smooth operation of the technology tools that enable the course work and the independent research of the undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff. The Coordinator acts as liaison to the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) Information Technology (IT) community especially the Teaching and Learning Technologies Division. As his/ her work has significant impact on the mission of the RSJ, the Coordinator is expected to investigate new ideas, best practices in the field, and how common problems are addressed at other institutions. The individual is expected to consult with and work to obtain buy-in for initiatives with our various stakeholders. The individual coordinates work activities with the Dean, the Academic Chair, and the RSJ Technology Committee. Providing effective and timely solutions to computing and problems is essential to the smooth functioning of the department and is critical to faculty and student success. The successful candidate will employ knowledge of Macintosh and PC systems, networking, software, and basic maintenance. It also requires knowledge of audio, video, software and hardware applications across platforms. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in use of current software applications, hardware, and networking programs and trouble-shooting of same issues with Windows and Macintosh platforms. Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills and strong management and organizational skills are required. Consider living in the spectacular scenery of the Reno/Lake Tahoe area. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and two years of experience or a Master's Degree and one year of experience to include media technology, information technology, or supervision and lab management in an academic, publishing, or similar environment. Degree should be from a regionally accredited institution with emphasis in media technology, multimedia, computer science, information technology, or related field.
