A phone call is an interruption. An IM is an interruption. An email message is just another entry in the inbox list, which I will notice when I get around to checking it. If your work requires you to react to email instantly, perhaps you should send things like mailing list subscriptions to a different, non-work email address. Like maybe get one of them GMail thingies. :) I have banished all mail alerters and notifiers from my desktop. If someone at work needs to get in touch with me quickly, they can either page me using my Bberry PIN or send a message using the Exchange "Importance: HIgh" flag, either of which will cause a loud Kimmunicator beep to let me know I need to check something. -- Mark J.
