I developed a telephone-based language tool for students I describe below. Unfortunately I don't have an answer to your question about experiences with Gabcast. But I do have a website that uses the telephone to record and replay audio practice sessions for students (in any language). It is a user-generated network, so that the audio files with which students interact are provided by registered members of the site. All submissions are offered up to the greater community.
