David, There coastal. However, there was an unverified report in WRJ about 20+ years ago. Check the # of warts/dot. They have many more than Am toads. They're also smaller and much more nasal. Fowler's toads are a sandy ground species, which can be away from the coast in predominently sandy zones. Like maybe an esker. All that said I have never seen nor have I heard them this far north.
