We're lucky to have a very small student body, so the follow up is a face-to-face interview. v/R Alex Alexander Waid, Ph.D. Professor of Spanish Department of Humanities United States Coast Guard Academy (dh) 27 Mohegan Avenue New London, CT 06320-4195 860-701-6866 [log in to unmask] -----Original Message----- From: Language Learning and Technology International Information Forum [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of LLTI-Editor Sent: Friday, October 13, 2006 1:58 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: #8352.1 (!) online placement exams --- Forwarded Message from Barbara Sawhill <[log in to unmask]> --- >Date: Fri, 13 Oct 2006 08:03:39 -0400 >From: Barbara Sawhill <[log in to unmask]> >Subject: Re: #8352 online placement exams >In-reply-to: <[log in to unmask]> >To: Language Learning and Technology International Information Forum <[log in to unmask]> >User-Agent: Mozilla Thunderbird 1.0.7 (Macintosh/20050923) >References: <[log in to unmask]> Anna and all: We use the WebCAPE (BYU) placement tests for Spanish, German, French and Russian (on line) and then ask the students to submit a brief writing sample (in person). We have a mandate from our administration to make all placement tests (especially for incoming freshlings) completely online by next summer, so we are experimenting with using the BYU test in conjunction with an online writing tool deployed or distributed via Moodle. Anyone else using Moodle for such tasks? --Barbara -- Barbara Sawhill Director, Cooper International Learning Center Lecturer, Hispanic Studies Department Oberlin College Oberlin, OH 44074 Voice: 440-775-8595 Fax: 440-775-6888 http://www.oberlin.edu/ilc President-elect, IALLT http://www.iallt.org http://www.languagelabunleashed.com Skype: barbarasawhill LLTI-Editor wrote: >--- Forwarded Message from [log in to unmask] --- > > > >>From: [log in to unmask] >>To: [log in to unmask] >>Subject: online placement exams >>Date: Thu, 12 Oct 2006 00:12:25 +0000 >> >> > >I am interested in getting feedback from those who have created online placement >exams.
