Hi! You may recall a few weeks ago I was having trouble with the simple scripting of an open statement in Photoshop CS that seemed to be cleared up. It wasn't. The client was still experiencing difficulty, so yesterday I made the 100 mile trek to see for myself what was going on. They were right. The script couldn't open their documents. It appeared at first that the graphics had simply been corrupted. They started out okay, then copies were made to be manipulated in Photoshop, and when the script attempted to open the copies, that's where the trouble began. At first I thought maybe the script was trying to open the document before the copying had been completed, so I added a pause, but that didn't help. Then I tried manually copying the document and opening the copy. That worked fine. Then I simplified the duplicate statement so that it didn't give it a new name and just left it "original name copy". That worked fine. To wrap up an already long story, the problem turned out to be simply changing the name from originalname.eps to originalname.jpg. The file was an eps from which we wanted to make a bunch of copies and make changes for use on the web. These changes included saving the new copies as jpegs, but if we started by making the copies and renaming them with the suffix .jpg before we actually saved them as jpegs, Photoshop CS could not open these now improperly named eps files. Illustrator could, but Photoshop couldn't. I hope this saves someone else working with Photoshop CS time and trouble.
