My take is it's a full-featured and very capable MSOffice-like suite. So if you have to use the MS compatible approach, it's a great choice. I still prefer the WordPerfect approach to word processing, so I haven't jumped in yet with both feet. But I do use it occasionally and it works very well. PS Our campus has offered as a supported standard Star Office, which is Sun's branded version of Open Office. I actually like the latter better. >>> [log in to unmask] 1/23/2006 12:15:56 PM >>> --- Forwarded Message from Bob Peckham <[log in to unmask]> --- >User-Agent: Microsoft-Entourage/11.0.0.040405 >Date: Sat, 21 Jan 2006 13:55:14 -0600 >Subject: Open Office >From: Bob Peckham <[log in to unmask]> >To: <[log in to unmask]> What is your read on Open Office, a free office suite, a multiplatform and multilingual free product? There are many people involved in the development, but it is a project under the management of Sun Microsystems. TBob Robert D.
