There will be a pre-meeting workshop on November 10 on the topic of Non-Western Fonts, moderated by Emmanuel Paris-Bouvret of Wesleyan University. In addition to individual and group presentations, the program will include a roundtable discussion regarding changing models of textbook publication, with particular emphasis on publisher-produced and -hosted digital media, digital rights management issues, their impact on the work of language centers, and their implications for instruction and language technology at the secondary and post-secondary levels. Participants will include editors and technical staff from Thomson-Heinle, Cheng & Tsui and other publishers, as well as Jeff Samuels, IALLT's Digital Exchange Coordinator. The Program Committee for this meeting is soliciting abstracts for 30-45 minute presentations on the topic of publisher-produced materials and their impact on language labs' and resource centers' operations. Presentations might address: -- publisher/center relations and joint initiatives, -- changes in center mission and operations as a result of publisher-produced and -distributed materials, -- best practices in integrating publisher-produced materials into the language curriculum, -- other related topics.
