I used the search "pinyin tone microsoft xp" in google and got lots of relevant links. One led me to this page... http://www.math.nus.edu.sg/aslaksen/read.shtml It's not always straightforward, though. According to your setup, results may vary. For instance, in this page's discussion I can't read his "third tones" no matter which language I select for encoding in IE6. But maybe if I opened the html page in word or firefox, it would work!
