Director of Academic Technology Services Dickinson College Dickinson College seeks an individual of vision to lead its Academic Technology Services Department. Reporting to the Vice President of Library and Information Services, the director will join a team of professionals in a newly merged division of library and information technology services. The director will lead an accomplished team of instructional technology professionals and work with faculty and students engaged in the integration of technology in learning, teaching, and scholarship. Chartered in 1783 and named for a signer of the United States Constitution, Dickinson College represents a revolutionary, bold heritage in higher education. Ranked as a national liberal arts college, the College exercises leadership in a number of fields, including its international programs. The department takes the lead in managing the application of technology in these programs, including language instruction. The Director will lead a staff of four instructional technology professionals augmented by student workers. She or he will manage the Information Commons and other campus technology centers, mentor staff, and align academic technology services and projects with divisional and campus strategic goals. Candidates should have a Ph.D. or equivalent in instructional technology or equivalent academic preparation and a record or professional accomplishment. Those with a master's degree will be considered. Candidates should have a background as an academic leader with substantive administrative experience as well as five years experience in the field, bring a leadership style characterized by teamwork, communication, and consensus-building, and have a clear understanding of emerging technologies and how they affect teaching, learning, and scholarship. Knowledge of trends in the field such as open source, social software, collaborative software, learning objects, maintainable technologies, and collaboration between institutions is essential along with a demonstrated history of exploiting opportunities as new technologies emerge.
