In the past several years we have purchased two Daewoo code free DVD players and a Samsung multi-system VCR from them and been very happy with our purchases and even recommended them to other units on campus and even on LLTI. For the DVD players they even matched a lower price I found elsewhere. However, a month ago I got a call from a media specialist from the East West Center here who had had problems with them in returning a DVD player for repair. He warned me not to deal with them anymore. Your post confirms what he said. Although the website looks the same, he suspected that they have new owners as the people he dealt with on the phone were different from when he purchased the item and of course the service was different. Last month we purchased another Samsung multi-system VCR, but used another vendor (B&H Photo) and even got it at a lower price than advertised by World Gift Center. We have had far too many problems, over charging, dispatch of wrong machine and an altogether unprofessional attitude. The over charging was corrected. But far too many problem linger on. Please be advised to not deal with Mr. Peter of World Gift Center. The other option is to only purchase with Purchase Orders and not use credit cards. * LLTI is a service of IALLT, the International Association for Language Learning, and The Consortium for Language Teaching and Learning (http://consortium.dartmouth.edu).
