I haven't heard that they were discontinuing the sales. I have recently been in touch with a sales rep (New Zealand)who referrend tothi link that you probably know already : http://www.sansinc.com Otherwise try langlab http://www.elanglab.com if you are looking for a sound only solution. You can also try Virtual language lab that have extensive options and replicate the Tandberg interface, have other functionalities such as video and text capabilities. Their website is atrocious but the software is I think worth a consideration http://www.keylinkcomputers.co.uk/ If you have the budget Genesis could also be useful http://www.linguatronics.com produced and sold in the US that is encompass file distribution + computer classroom management and Can 8 http://www.can8.com/what_is.html . You can find a few postings related to CAN8 in the LLTI archives. Hope this helps and good luck ! **************************** Edith Paillat Language Technology Specialist Language Learning Centre Victoria University of Wellington P.O.Box 600, Wellington New Zealand +64 4 463 5792 http://www.vuw.ac.nz/llc -----Original Message----- From: LLTI-Editor [mailto:[log in to unmask]] Sent: Wednesday, 30 June 2004 5:59 a.m. To: [log in to unmask] Subject: #7571 Recommendations for digital labs or "virtual language lab" PC software? --- Forwarded Message from <[log in to unmask]> --- >From: <[log in to unmask]> >To: <mailto:[log in to unmask]> >Subject: Recommendations for digital labs or "virtual language lab" PC software? >Date: Fri, 25 Jun 2004 13:39:28 -0500 Hello Everyone. I found out from Sony that the Virtuoso and Soloist software and all Sony Learning Systems have been discontinued when I inquired about these products. Tandberg/Sanako makes the Divace which is a hardware card/software combination. Does anyone know of an all software solution for this I wiould like to find a system that gives language lab intercom and instructor monitoring functions and dual track recording for students on on PCs. We are looking into all digital replacements for our Tandberg IS-10 at Northeastern Illinois University. Most systems seem to be a hardware software mix but Sony's used to work over a LAN with no additonal wiring or hardware other than the LAN cables and the instructor console with analog audio and video source devices connected to it. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Vendor and manuafacturer websites, as usual, are not very detailed in ther descriptions. We run Windows XP SP1 on campus.
