David,

The first solution that comes to my mind:

1) [Optional] Run a script to image computer before any changes occur
2) Thaw the computer in the middle of the night
3) [Optional] Run a temporary firewall to allow only access between
local servers and windowsupdate.com
4) Timed script to connect to the Novel server
5) Let automatics updates do their work

If you run into any problems, simply revert back to the previous image.
