I get spam from these guys at least once per day, and know many friends and relatives who do as well. I also believe that, in principle, it's best to avoid purchasing any product advertised in this way, as you are then validating the effectiveness of their spam marketing model. This is not to mention their nigh-on-comical descriptions of their products... advertising the "blazing speed" of a 1GHz Transmeta Crusoe -- pushing the usual marketing exaggeration to excess. I would imagine these guys would be very hard to get post-purchase support from. It strikes me as a rather fly-by-night operation. You'd be better off spending the money now for a vendor who is a known quantity than spending it later when you find your laptops showing up DOA and the vendor who sold them to you has suddenly declared bankruptcy or otherwise vanished. -------------------------------------- Jonathan White Technical Coordinator Center for English Language and Orientation Programs Boston University http://www.bu.edu/celop/ -------------------------------------- >From: LLTI-Editor <[log in to unmask]> >Reply-To: Language Learning and Technology International Information Forum > <[log in to unmask]> >To: [log in to unmask] >Subject: #7305 Builtsmart Laptops ?! >Date: Tue, 28 Oct 2003 16:06:55 EST > >--- Forwarded Message from waltje <[log in to unmask]> --- > > >Date: Mon, 27 Oct 2003 21:45:57 -0500 > >From: waltje <[log in to unmask]> > >To: [log in to unmask] > >Subject: Builtsmart Laptops ?! > >------------------ > > >Hello friends and colleagues: > >I am looking into buying wireless PC-laptops from a company called ePC >Parts (Canoga Park, CA); they sell discounted/very affordable machines >under the brand name "Builtsmart." > >Has anyone dealt with this company or bought any "Builtsmart" computers >(e.g. the 1300 D wireless AMD) and can provide an opinion?
