Hi, Not sure if this would work for you, but for several semesters I've been using a Personal Microphone System by RadioShack. This system has a small, oval-shaped speaker and built-in amplifier that clips to the belt, and a microphone that plugs in to the speaker and is held by a headpiece that goes behind your neck (similar to some hands-free cell phone systems). The speaker-amplifier can be powered by batteries or an AC adaptor, and I paid around $40 for the whole set a year ago. This allows me to walk around with the system on and be heard all over the room, then go to my workstation and plug it in to the AC power adaptor (to save batteries) and continue my explanations, and it is completely unobtrusive since the only thing on your face/head is the small microphone coming from the side of your face. I have had many requests for further information on that system since I started using it, and several other instructors (mainly those who teach technology classes who need a hands-free solution) have got similar equipments. All this said, I could not find a direct link on the RadioShack website, except this online manual in .pdf format http://support.tandy.com/support_audio/doc66/66345.pdf , but I've seen it in the stores lately (together with other PA -Public Address - systems).
