For our lab needs, we require a program which allows you to use the 'Record What You Hear' Feature in order to capture streamed audio at the same time as microphone input. This essentially gives us a two track recorder without having to spend huge amounts of money on some software that's out there. Total Recorder looks amazing in terms of flexibility and options, and after testing it out I think it might suit our needs perfectly. Total Recorder however does install its own windows audio driver, and even though you can disable it, it can be a bit tricky to get the settings correct if you want to do two track recording (voice + audio stream) As for Creative Stream Recorder, from what I can see, it only comes bundled with the SB Audigy, and there's no way to evaluate it or aquire it separately. Advanced MP3 Recorder, and SuperMP3 Recorder were also considerations since they have a less complex interface, though filesaving required specifying a directory before having recorded a file - which is sort of backwards, and appending or inserting audio doesn't work very well. We still have to test Total Recorder for compatibility with other software, though for the moment, it looks like an excellent choice.
