The competition is open to citizens of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. Faculty must currently teach at a higher educational institution in their home country, have a mastery of the English language, possess a university degree, and have two years of teaching experience in an institution of higher education. Applicants in the fields of Arts Management and Library and Archival Science need a university degree, two years of work experience in that field, and must currently teach at an educational institution. For the 2003-2004 academic year, JFDP Fellows will undertake a nine-month, non-degree program. Program activities include observing courses, developing curricula, gathering resource materials, attending conferences, collaborating with U.S. colleagues, giving presentations and possibly co-teaching. After the academic year, Fellows complete a two-month summer practicum. Fellows are placed at U.S. host institutions that have facilities and faculty appropriate for their field of study. JFDP Fellows receive round-trip international and domestic transportation, medical insurance, monthly stipends, and a professional development fund. Since the JFDP is a non-degree program, Fellows are not required or permitted to receive transcripts, degrees, grades or credit. American Councils for International Education (ACTR/ACCELS) is administering the competition in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The Fulbright Office in Kyiv is administering the JFDP competition in Ukraine. The offices in these countries provide applications, answer questions, and collect completed applications. The free software program, "Adobe Acrobat Reader" is necessary to view and print the application. After completing the application, please send it or bring it to the nearest American Councils/ACTR/ACCELS office (Fulbright office in Kyiv, Ukraine).
