We're at the very beginning stages of an initiative to promote GIS across the humanities and social science disciplines at St. Lawrence University. While we have a small but solid user base in the sciences, we'd like to explore applications of GIS in teaching in other disciplines. With the notable exception of Joel Goldfield at Fairfield (whose very interesting presentation I saw at CALICO in March), are there others out there who are using GIS in language and culture teaching? Or even more broadly in other humanities/soc sci disciplines? If so, I'd like to hear from you about what you (or your colleagues) are doing and how your campus climate supports (or doesn't!) these efforts. Thanks in advance for taking the time to respond to this query.
