Job description for the Director of the Foreign Language Technology Center: Rochester Institute of Technology seeks to hire a Director for its soon-to-be-established Foreign Language Technology Center. Rank: open. This person will help plan and coordinate the construction of the Center. She or he must have an understanding and vision of the goals and methods of FL pedagogy and the effective integration of technology into foreign language teaching and learning. She or he will have strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and administrative skills. Qualifications include an M.A. or Ph.D. in Educational Technology, a foreign language, or a related field. Appropriate combination of education and experience will be considered. Required are expertise in FL educational technology; experience in maintaining a local area network; experience with technology center operations; experience in creating FL courseware; experience with satellite transmission; and interest in preparing grant proposals. The Director will have primary responsibility for developing computer-based instructional materials for FL classes and for providing training to faculty and students in computer-based instructional technology; evaluating, testing, and acquiring multi-media materials; developing digital information resources on the Internet; and hiring and supervising student staff. The Director will serve as liaison with the RIT Office of Information and Technology Services and the Library.
