>Subject: Digital video for an American Sign Language lab

At Northeastern University, we are looking into upgrading our analog lab to
a digital lab. However, a rather unique and complicated element is that we
would like to have some of the carrels (5-15 out of 30) set up for American
Sign Languge students. They need to be able to do the following: Watch a
video of someone speaking (on the PC?), simultaneously record themselves
interpreting the video, and record and play their image in the corner as a
picture within a picture (PIP). They then play back the video which now
has a PIP in the corner showing them interpreting, and record another
interpretation which will be shown in another corner as a second PIP, and
so on until possibly all four corners have PIP's with successive
interpretations.

Is this possible with digital video, and if so, does anyone have experience
with it?

Thank you,
