This full-time, twelve month position reports directly to the Head of Instructional Technology Services. The Director of the Language Learning Center has full managerial and administrative responsibility for the use of a 20 station, dual-platform lab including satellite taping, multimedia development stations, audio and video equipment and keyserved language software; hires and trains students to assist in the operation of the lab; works with Core Computing, the Library and Multimedia Services to provide language learning resources for students and faculty across the campus; works with faculty to identify and evaluate new technologies and applications of technology and to provide the necessary resources and instruction for their use. The Director of the LLC maintains online materials including streaming audio and video, a database of audio and video materials and a cd-server. Many of the above activities are undertaken in a TriCollege, collaborative environment with Haverford and Swarthmore Colleges. Qualifications: Required: Bachelor's degree; strong background in one of the languages taught at BMC (Chinese, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Latin, Russian, Spanish); demonstrable knowledge of instructional technologies and their integration into the foreign language curriculum; experience in technology instruction and web design; ability to troubleshoot hardware and software in a multi-platform environment. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Desirable: Experience maintaining servers, online databases; demonstrable experience in the support of nonwestern languages; experience supervising a Language Learning Center.
