Dear LLTIers, This job posting is attached as a Word document as well, in case the formatting of the description below was lost in the transmission. ***************************************** The Research, Curriculum, and Development Group of University Information Services (www.georgetown.edu/uis/rcd) at Georgetown University is seeking an Academic Technology Coordinator (ATC) to help the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics integrate technology into teaching and research. The ATC will work closely with the Supervisor of the Language Learning Technology Center to provide an array of services, and he or she will participate in the pedagogical activities of the Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship in support of faculty. Primary responsibilities consist of · helping faculty select and learn relevant technologies to advance their teaching and research, and · helping faculty develop new instructional resources and research tools and strategies The ideal candidate would have the following qualifications: · expertise in the creation of Internet-based language learning materials, preferably Macromedia Director and Flash, and some experience with web/database technologies such as Cold Fusion or SGML/XML; expertise with Macs and PCs; experience in supporting non-Roman scripts; experience with Blackboard or another learning management system · an advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) with concentration in one or more of the following fields: a foreign/second language or literature, language education, linguistics, educational technology, instructional design and assessment, or a closely related field · strong interpersonal and communication skills; a demonstrable service orientation · ability to initiate change in both instructional and research methodologies · faculty-support experience in an academic department, IT organization, or library · experience in creating or remodeling a language lab · experience in collaborative writing of grant proposals Applicants should send (1) a letter describing experiences and interests, (2) curriculum vitae, and (3) names of three references.
