The responses for the pilot study were limited but did show some interesting trends, and some obvious flaws in the survey tool. According to comments from the respondents, as well as, session participants at a number of conferences last year, we have revised our survey tool on Web-based Course Management Systems. We have divided the original survey into two (Faculty and Student) and shortened it considerably. The audience for the Faculty Survey is anyone who has; a.) developed materials for; b.) taught; c.)set up; or d.) anyone involved on the instructional side of; a language or language-related (methods, linguistics, etc.) course using a web-based course management system. You can get to the survey at http://www.otal.umd.edu/wcmt-intro.html. The audience for the Student Survey is anyone has used any part of a web-based course management system for a language or language-related course. The student survey can be accessed from http://www.otal.umd.edu/wcmt_stu_intro.html. Your help in taking the survey and encouraging your students to take the survey will be greatly appreciated. I will be presenting the preliminary results at the IALL 2001 Conference (May 22-26). After the conference, I will post the presentation. I appreciate your help in gathering this information.
