In one instance, making sure that we had the newest Win 2000 driver for the printer helped. In other instance, there was a problem with the Network. The printer in question was being shared over the network. Our Network is run off of NT 4 and in some instances Win2000 machines have had trouble seeing printer which are shared over an NT network. You might try asking you network Admin people. Hope this helps Chris Roppola Academic Technology Brandeis University ITS 781-736-4654 ----- Original Message ----- From: LLTI-Editor <[log in to unmask]> To: <[log in to unmask]> Sent: Thursday, January 04, 2001 1:09 PM Subject: #5880 Printing from Win 2000 Professional --- Forwarded Message from "John Niendorf" <[log in to unmask]> --- >From: "John Niendorf" <[log in to unmask]> >To: "Language Learning and Technology International Information Forum" <[log in to unmask]> >Subject: Printing from Win 2000 Professional >Date: Wed, 3 Jan 2001 08:46:12 -0500 >Importance: Normal ------------------ Hello, I am having a printing problem and wonder if anyone has any ideas? We are primarily a Mac department, but a handful of Professors use Windows machines. Recently, a Chinese professor switched over from Chinese Windows 98 to Windows 2000 Professional. After the switch, he can no longer print to the HP 6MP printer in the Media Center. When we try to use that printer on the network, the error message " No suitable driver installed" appears. I have tried several different drivers from the HP site, installing service pack 1 and compatibility updates, all to no avail. This problem only happens with Windows 2000 machines. Windows 95, 98 and Me all print to the same printer just fine. Sincerely, John John Niendorf Director, FLMC 220A Stanley Coulter Purdue University West Lafayette, IN 47907 (765)496-2259
