(c=computer!) - 'Presence' lab (that's a German at work, I suspect, they use the word to mean a real, physical space like a library) [f2f is FACE TO FACE) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ from Marisa Castagno, Connecticut College Traditional Lab Traditional Analog Lab Analog Lab Techno-mix lab ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ from Ruth Trometer, MIT What's your definition of Virtual Lab? ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ from Sonia Bascur, Universidad de Chile TRADITIONAL LAB CLASSIC LAB ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ from Ronald Bergman, Cal State ...join our virtual lab community http://www.calstate.edu/tier3/CSU-VLL/ [he read Ruth's mind!] ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ from Ann Levenick, UMich How about facility? ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ from Bill Caldwell, American U How 'bout "hard lab"...? ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ from Olaf Bohlke, Creighton brick-and-mortar lab ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ from Cindy Bravo, Boston College Tangible Reality Lab The Lab B.C. (Before Computer) vs. Lab A.D. (All Digital) The Bricks, Mortar, Concrete Touch and Feel Lab [she says she is kidding] ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ from Leslie F Bailey, [log in to unmask] Traditional [Language/Learning] Lab ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ from Daniel Tom, UHawaii concrete lab ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ from Jacqueline Kaminski, Purdue Language Center ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ from Jean Teel, [log in to unmask] traditional lab ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Although TRADITIONAL lab gets the most votes so far, I have trouble with that choice, as I imagine any lab would that does not consider itself traditional. Similar problems arise with concrete, classic and analog. Peter's f2c is reminiscent of r2r.How many of you get either one of these acronyms? I liked Jacque's justification for LANGUAGE CENTER, but that's what my place is called anyhow, and that's what we'd call our virtual lab too. (Geddes Language Center's Virtual Lab). I found the argument for Brick-and-Mortar most compelling, to tell the truth, and that's what I plan to use until a better catch word presents itself. thanks again, listeros bruce
