I am looking for feedback from those of you who have taught academic writing courses in a foreign language. How best would you like to see technology used to support learning to write academic papers? Imagine you could design the ideal technology component for teaching writing. What would it include? Here are some more specific questions below. Would you prefer a CD-ROM type of software that comes bundled with a text or a web site that students (and you) can access? Is it important that students learn how to write using a process approach? If so, how might a writing product or web site best reflect this approach? If not, what method do you use and how might technology support that method? For those of you who teach ESL, would you like to see a word processing product like Atajo for ESL? Should the product include access to a grammar and usage guide? Should the product include information and practice exercises in writing for a variety of different academic disciplines? How important are sound, graphics and/or video to a writing technology product? Any feedback is appreciated.
