Hey all!

One more week to get your blurbs in for the DOC Officer elections!  The DOC will elect a President, two Vice Presidents, a Treasurer and a Secretary.  Below is information about the positions and about the election.

What are the various positions and what do they entail?

DOC President:  The President works with the Directorate and other officers to set and work towards club goals and priorities, while overseeing club-wide activities, and serving as a contact person for DOC interactions with organizations around campus and the local area.

DOC Vice Presidents: There are two of these! The Vice Presidents organize DOC-wide events, tackle independent projects, and work together with other officers on large projects. You have a lot of say in the projects you want to pursue, and they can range from inclusivity efforts, to greater DOC -General Campus interaction.

DOC Treasurer: The treasurer organizes and oversees the termly budget meeting. In addition, the treasurer is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the awarding of the Schlitz Fund (funding for independent trips) on a termly basis. The treasurer also has freedom to pursue independent projects.

DOC Secretary: The DOC Secretary is responsible for taking minutes at all DOC Officer and Directorate meetings.  They also pursue other projects as decided upon by the officer group.

Is this opportunity right for me? Which position should I run for?

Any DOC member can run!  If you’re interested in putting time, energy and careful thought into maintaining and improving the DOC, then you should strongly consider running.  Serving as a DOC officer demands tough, collaborative, often non-glorious work.  It also offers an amazing opportunity to make a real and long-lasting impact on a vitally important and thoroughly special community.

When considering which position to run for, you should reach out to those who previously held those positions for input. These people, among others, are:

DOC President: Laura Hutchinson, Ben Saccone, John Brady

DOC Vice President: Lauren Mendelsohn, Hunter Dominick, Iris Wang, Laura Hutchinson

DOC Treasurer: Janice Chen, Ethan Smith

How do I run?

You need to email me a blurb (300-500 words) about which position you are running for (and which terms), why you are qualified, why you want the position, and your goals if elected. These are due on Sunday, January 27th! You are welcome to run for multiple positions, but please submit separate blurbs for each position you would like to run for, and indicate your preference in position.  Elections are independent for each term, meaning you can run for 1, 2, 3, or 4 terms.

How do we vote?

On Wednesday, January 30th, the blurbs will be sent out for your consideration.  A Google Form will be made available for voting and the election will last from February 3rd to February 10th.  Results will be announced by February 15th.  You must be a DOC member to vote.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

YITOOD,

John Brady
