The Tutor Clearinghouse is currently seeking to identify/hire upperclass students who have a particular interest in either biology, chemistry, economics and math to serve as RESIDENT EXPERTS for the House Communities during the 2018-19 academic year. The goal of the Resident Expert is to provide academic support to students in these specific areas of concentration. Based on the high demand for tutors experienced by the Tutor Clearinghouse, the Resident Expert program was developed to offer a facilitated study hall that accommodates drop-in tutoring. The program has been designed to ensure adequate help to those that may not be assigned a tutor for the term or for those that may not be able to make office hours that week.

There are many attributes that contribute to a student being successful as a Resident Expert. Among them are the student's choice of major and their achievement within that major. Bonus consideration would be given to students with a particular House Community affiliation who have worked enhancing their peers' understanding of course material through the Tutor Clearinghouse.

This job would be for all three terms of residence during 2018-2019. The commitment to the job would require candidates set aside 1.5 hours/week. The assumption is made that most rising seniors will be in residence in Hanover for the entire academic year. Rising Juniors are also eligible for this position; a strategy would need to be developed to cover any off-term time included in your D-plan. The task, in general is to meet with House Community residents to help them through the challenges they encounter as they work to master their course materials. The rate of pay is $15.00/hour. End of term review sessions will be considered a possibility, depending upon interest shown by residents.
