Faculty, staff and students are invited to a seminar with Professor Imre Szeman (U of Waterloo) sponsored by the Society of Fellows and the Department of English and Creative Writing. Szeman is a well-known scholar in environmental criticism and theory, focusing on the cultural politics of oil and renewable energy. His recent publications include Energy Humanities: An Anthology (Johns Hopkins) and The Bloomsbury Companion to Marx. Please find the MS for the seminar attached, from a book in progress entitled On Petrocultures: Globalization, Culture, Energy.

This event pulls back the veil and lets students better understand faculty, get a sense of what a life well lived looks like, and share stories. Each Speed Stories has a unique vibe and character, but they all encourage vulnerability and reflection. The second Speed Stories event of the term features Professor Vievee Francis of the English and Creative Writing department! We hope to see you there!
