The Outdoor Programs Office is sponsoring a sea kayaking seminar in the Bay of Fundy (New Brunswick, Canada)! The Bay of Fundy is famous for its phenomenal scenery, its high tides, and
diverse marine life. We will be working with Seascape
Kayak Tours, which operates out of Deer Island in the Bay. Seascapes and its founder, Bruce Smith, have a reputation for their great environmental stewardship,
skills, safety, and effective teaching approach.
WHAT: 5-day/4-night
sea kayaking workshop with lessons on:
- sea kayak skills and rescues
- local knowledge, tides & currents, weather & ocean ecosystems
- trip planning, chart work, packing for sea kayak expeditions
- group dynamics
- environmental ethics

WHEN:June
10-16, 2018
Here's a look at the itinerary:
June 10: Drive from Hanover to Deer Island Campground. Camp overnight.
June 11: Meet Bruce at Seascape for Orientation Day (sea kayaking skills
& rescues/trip preparation)
June 12-15: Exploration of the West Isles.
June 15: Return to Seascape at 2:00pm. Camp
overnight at Deer Island Campground.
June 16: Drive back to Hanover from Deer Island.
COST:
- DOC student members: $500 (financial
aid available)
- non DOC student members: $525
- faculty/staff: $625
- community members: $750
