Downbeat Magazine has called Joe Morris “the preeminent free music guitarist of his generation,” while WIRE magazine describes him as “one of the most profound improvisers at work in the U.S.” He is featured on more than 120 commercially
released recordings and has performed in 33 countries. Since 2000, he has been on the faculty in the Jazz and Contemporary Improvisation Department at New England Conservatory.
Kyoko Kitamura is a vocal improviser, bandleader and composer with a strong interest in interdisciplinary collaborations, frequently collaborating with dancers and visual artists. Most recently known for her work with saxophonist and composer Anthony
Braxton, she is a featured performer in his recent operas “Trillium E” and “Trillium J”, and has garnered critical praise for her “great vocal range, veering from wordless vocalese to near operatic feats” (AllAboutJazz).
Cellist Tomeka Reid has been described as a “new jazz power source” by the New York Times, has closely collaborated with artists like Nicole Mitchell, Anthony Braxton, and the Art Ensemble of Chicago, and was declared “Jazz
Chicagoan of the Year” by the Chicago Tribune and “Chicago Jazz Hero” by the Jazz Journalists Association.
