MANGROVES AND MARKET SOLUTIONS, A TALK BY KATHY MCLEOD OF THE NATURE CONSERVANCY, 12:00PM-1:00PM, GENERAL MOTORS CLASSROOM, TUCK

This talk is the second of four in a Climate Change series co-sponsored by: Professor Anant Sundaram’s Business and Climate Change Course; the Arthur L. Irving Institute for Energy and Society; and the Revers Center for Energy.

On April 17, 2017, Ms. McLeod will discuss the links between climate and adaptation strategies, with a focus on assessing climate risks and on developing market solutions to build resilience. Kathy Baughman McLeod is Managing Director, Climate Risk and Resilience at The Nature Conservancy (TNC). She leads a team that addresses the challenges and opportunities of climate adaptation with a focus on engagement with insurance, engineering, and investment sectors to develop financial solutions to protect and advance natural infrastructure such as reefs, oysters, marshes and mangroves. TNC uses insurance industry-based tools to quantify benefits of enhanced natural assets, such as protection of coastal wetlands and their provision of storm and flood risk reduction to people and property.
