The Nathan Smith Society has partnered with the Dickey Center Global Health Initiative, the Geisel Center for Health Equity, Geisel Physicians for Human Rights and the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth (ChAD) to present a very special evening. A Refugee’s Journey of Courage and Hope Friday, April 7, 2017, 6pm Life Sciences Center, Oopik Auditorium. Sara Mardini and her sister Yusra saved 20 lives by swimming for three and a half hours guiding their refugee boat through the Mediterranean Sea when the motor broke. She has gone on to become a Human Rights Champion recognized by the UN and European Parliament. In this special conversation, Sara will speak about escaping the war in Syria and her journey to become a strong advocate and voice for refugee and women’s Rights.
