Dear Dartmouth community,

On behalf of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated (OPBSI), we would like to introduce ourselves and share some insight in regards to our organization and how you can give back to your community.

The purpose of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. is to Serve and Educate people of diverse backgrounds through sisterhood, leadership, and guidance. As positive role models, we promote unity of all cultures, focus on the empowerment of our gender, and raise the standards of excellence in our academic, social, and personal endeavors. Our philanthropy is raising awareness of violence against women, in addition to having seven goals.

The second of these seven goals is:

To bring forth our culture and establish our identities as a unifying whole.

OPBSI constantly focuses on this goal through:

  * Cultural awareness and inclusion through programing
  * Identifying and embracing similarities and differences amongst different cultures
  * Keeping up with international issues and motivating our sisters to get involved with mitigating such issues

OPBSI prides itself on being a culturally diverse organization, acting as a voice for all cultures and their stories. Although we were founded as a Latina oriented sorority, our organizations diversity has grown in unimaginable ways. We have sisters who are Salvadoran, Mexican, Dominican, Puerto Rican, Egyptian, Indian, African American, Chinese, Filipino, Irish, Native American, Jamaican, German, Italian, Turkish, Iranian, Bolivian, Nepalese, Panamanian, and more. We see sisterhood does not see people who are from different upbringings and cultures, but people who can unify through their differences and bridge the gaps between these cultures.

We hope you take the time to get to know the cultures of those who surround you on a day to day basis!

Best wishes,

Sisters of OPBSI.
