Today, the Political Economy Project sponsors a public lecture by Stanford classicist and political scientist Josiah Ober on the topic of his recent book, _The Rise and Fall of Classical Greece_. How prosperous were classical Athens and other Greek city-states compared to other civilizations and even by modern standards? What roles did trade, democracy, and federalism play in economic growth in the Greek city-state system? Ober’s book gives us new answers to these questions.

The event takes place in Silsby 28 at 4:30 PM.
