Join us in Rockefeller 003 on Thursday April 21st at 4:30 pm to hear “Meritocracy and Its Discontents.”

Daniel Markovits is Guido Calabresi Professor of Law and founding director of the Center for the Study of Private Law at Yale Law School. He will address the concept of meritocratic achievement as it exists in contemporary society, and will compare it to the virtue of aristocracy that was acclaimed in ancient times. He will discuss how the hyper-meritocracy that has developed in the United States has transformed the meaning of the concept of merit.

Further, a student lunch with Professor Markovits will take place at 12:15-1:30 pm in the Rockefeller Center's Morrison Commons. Please sign up at the link below if you would like to attend.
