Dear Community,

On Monday night, a group of students posted inflammatory flyers targeted at the Native American community in the wake of Indigenous Peoples' Day. The flyers advertised "Vintage Dartmouth Indian gear" for sale on an online store. The store promotes the use of the misrepresentation of Native American culture by using a stereotypical image of a "Native American profile" for commercial gain. This is a form of Native American cultural appropriation which mocks and removes parts of the culture from it's historical context. This incident has been very triggering for many members of the Dartmouth Community.

If you see these inflammatory flyers we ask that you please remove them in solidarity with the NAD community. You can also show your support by filing a biased incident report here. As an organization that fights for the elimination of race-based discrimination, the NAACP at Dartmouth College stands in solidarity with the NAD community against the misrepresentation of Native Americans.

If you need support of any kind, please contact the resources below.

In Solidarity & Support,
The NAACP Executive Board
