Dr. Vassilis Kekatos is currently a postdoctoral associate with the ECE Dept. of the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. He obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering and Science from the University of Patras, Greece. Current power infrastructure faces major challenges related to uncertainty, security, and environmental impact. While new technologies with cyber capabilities are installed throughout the grid, effective ways for processing the resultant data are now demanded. Join us to learn all about this exciting field!

POLAR BEARS WITH DR. THEA BECHSHOFT, 4:00PM, Rockefeller 003 
A biologist and PhD in Arctic marine ecotoxicology, the main focus of her research is the consequences of climate change and pollution on the polar bears of East Greenland, Svalbard, and Canada. She will talk about the challenges currently faced by the world’s polar bears, while also touching on the management uses of the information and biological samples obtained during polar bear field work in the high arctic.
