~About Garvin Jabusch~

Garvin Jabusch is Co-Founder and CIO of Green Alpha Advisors, an asset management firm founded in 2007 in Boulder, Colorado. The firm was founded on the belief that innovation is the main driving force behind financial performance. Those at Green Alpha define the importance of what they call the "Next Economy." Investing in the Next Economy, one that is sustainable and ecologically efficient, helps mitigate climate change, promotes both energy security and national security and, importantly, helps strengthen the economy with high quality, enduring job growth. Their brand of environmentally focused, green investing is not an asset class. Rather, it is a vision for how the global economy must evolve to operate in an environmentally sustainable world, and a method of investing risk-averse capital for the long-term.

However, sustainability metrics are by no means the only criteria of Green Alpha's Next Economy portfolio management. Their methodology includes favorable valuation metrics such as EPS growth, balance sheet strength, relatively low price to book and manageable debt characteristics. They also pay close attention to accelerating sector, industry, and company growth prospects, and business model defensibility such as high barriers to entry and strong intellectual property.

Green Alpha actively manages a number of portfolios including a public equity mutual fund called Shelton Green Alpha Fund (NEXTX).

~About DIPP~

The Dartmouth Investment and Philanthropy Program (DIPP) is a student organization that manages a real $400,000 diversified fund (started in 2007 with seed money donated by Dartmouth Alumni) and distributes a percentage of its capital gains to campus organizations annually. DIPP provides a platform for undergraduate students to learn about finance through education sessions as well as analyzing, debating, and pitching stocks for investment. DIPP maintains a focus on giving back to the Dartmouth community by donating a continually-increasing amount of funding to student-initiated philanthropic endeavors.

To learn about DIPP and find out how to gain membership, please attend our first meeting of the term. No prior investment experience required!
