Duane is responsible for SunCommon’s marketing, internal business operations (finances, legal, IT, HR – that’s Happiness Resources, culture) and investor relations. He’s a social entrepreneur with an eclectic 35-year career in socially responsible business, campaign management, government service and community involvement. He moved his family from California in 1996 to Vermont where he worked as Chief of Stuff at Ben & Jerry’s for 12 years — getting to execute Ben Cohen’s creative vision. Committed to advancing values-led business models, he’s a member of the national Social Venture Network, Vermont Venture Network and Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility. And he serves as a Director on the Boards of the HowardCenter and VPIRG.
Megan Rast '06; Director of Sustainability, Sony Pictures Entertainment
Megan is Director of Sustainability at Sony Pictures Entertainment where she is instrumental in setting environmental strategy and goals for SPE, advising departments on sustainability-related opportunities, supporting leading-edge employee engagement, measuring and monitoring overall environmental progress including greenhouse gas inventory and supply chain, leading sustainability communications and supporting marketing and publicity sustainability initiatives. Previously she supported eBay’s green communications, advised eBay on energy strategy as an EDF Climate Corps Fellow, consulted Southwest Airlines on a comprehensive citizenship strategy, and worked in environmental public policy consulting for regulatory and non-regulatory contracts at Abt Associates. She has an MBA from the UC Berkeley Haas School and majored in Environmental Studies at Dartmouth College where she enjoyed scampering about the African bush getting chased by elephants and rhinos while on the AFSP and while doing fieldwork for her senior honors thesis. In LA, she enjoys spending as much time as possible not driving her all-electric vehicle and riding her Linus bike around the Westside.
Ross Nova '94; Head of Global Compliance, L.L. Bean
Ross is the Head of Global Compliance for L.L. Bean where he oversees human rights and environmental compliance within the company's supply chain. Within his role at L.L. Bean he sets corporate policies on human and environmental rights and partners with vendors and suppliers to implement factory audits and improvement programs. In his previous position he was Assistant General Counsel/Director of Corporate Social Compliance for Kimberly-Clark where he created a risk adjusted program to ensure that human rights was embedded throughout the global supply chain and provided employment and labor counsel to all business and human resources units globally. Ross spent nine years at Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. where he advised employers on union negotiations, discrimination, harassment, regulatory compliance, and non-compete agreements. He holds a JD from the James E. Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona, Tuscon and a BA in Political Science and Government from Dartmouth College.
