Hi all,
TODAY, the fifth year PhD student Ian Adelstein will be giving a talk on non-euclidean geometry titled "Shortest Paths on a Sphere." He will introduce the topological notion of a sphere, and then discuss curvature and what makes some spheres round. He will then address shortest paths on a sphere, great circles, and then construct some spheres that do and do not admit such paths.
The talk will be accessible to all undergraduate students and will be held in Kemeny 105 at 7pm and food will be provided. So be sure to stop on by the listen to this interesting topic. See you there!
